Transcribe MP3 to Text
The format most recordings arrive in — decoded in your browser, first 2 minutes free, full transcript for a one-time $4.99.
First 2 minutes are transcribed free, no account. The full transcript is a one-time $4.99 — no subscription. Audio is decoded in your browser; only short slices are uploaded.
Turn an MP3 into text in three steps
- Drop the MP3. Duration and sample rate appear immediately.
- Transcribe the first 2 minutes free and read it. Podcast intros, music beds and ad reads are the usual failure points — see them now.
- Unlock the full file for $4.99 once. Long files are processed in 300-second slices with visible progress.
Formats that work the same way
| Format | Typical source |
|---|---|
| MP3 | Shared audio, podcast downloads, exported recordings. |
| M4A / AAC | iPhone voice memos, most screen recorders. |
| WAV | Hardware recorders, audio interfaces, interview kits. |
| OGG / FLAC | Open-source recorders and lossless archives. |
| MP4 / MOV | Only when the browser can decode the audio track inside. |
What the output looks like
Plain text in playback order, punctuated, plus an .srt and a .vtt with line timings built from the recogniser's word timestamps — drop either file straight into a video editor or YouTube Studio. No speaker labels.
Privacy, in one paragraph
Your MP3 is decoded and resampled on your device. Only 16 kHz mono WAV slices are uploaded for recognition; the original file is never transferred and is not stored. The transcript is assembled against a random job id so the page can hand it back after payment.
FAQ
Is there a file size limit?
No fixed size limit. The page slices the audio into 300-second chunks, so a large MP3 is many small uploads instead of one large one.
Will the MP3 be re-encoded?
Yes, locally: your browser decodes it and resamples to 16 kHz mono WAV, which is what the recogniser expects. That resampling is standard for speech models and does not add audible artefacts to the text.
Can I transcribe a podcast episode?
Yes. A 60-minute episode becomes twelve slices. Check the free preview first — music intros and ad reads transcribe poorly and you should see that before paying.
What about M4A and WAV?
Both work the same way. M4A is what iPhone voice memos produce; WAV is what recorders produce. Drop either.
